In today's increasingly competitive app market, the cost of acquiring a new user can range from $3 to $10 per person, while retaining existing users is significantly cheaper. Understanding user behavior within your app is critical.

Below, I’ll explain how to leverage FoxData’s Active Users Analysis feature to achieve this goal.

Unlike generic analytics tools or developer console reports, FoxData not only supports analysis of your own app but also offers unique competitor tracking capabilities.

Powered by our proprietary data model, the system generates estimated active user metrics for both your app and competitors.

Note that all displayed data are model-based projections and may differ from actual figures.

Add App and Competitors

1. Use the app search tool at the top of the feature to select competing apps for comparison from those you follow or that we recommend—up to 5 apps can be chosen.

2. Each app card displays overall data, including the number of associated apps in different app stores (Google Play/App Store), the number of active users for the day, and the change in active users compared to yesterday.

3. In addition to global, cross-platform aggregate data, you can narrow down the scope using filters to check active user metrics for specific segments. Supported filter conditions include different countries and various app stores.

User Activity Trends

We present daily active user over the selected time period in the form of a trend chart. The trend chart can display daily, weekly, or monthly active user numbers. You can also customize the trend chart’s content by changing the conditions.

You can also customize the trend chart’s content by changing the conditions.

Comparison metrics include ranking, downloads, and revenue. For example, when downloads are selected, a corresponding download trend chart will appear alongside the original active user trend chart. This comparison allows you to identify the relationship between changes in active user numbers and download volumes across different apps.

FoxData’s “related apps” refer to the different versions of an app released in various app stores and markets in different countries. If an app has multiple associated versions under the selected filters, their active user numbers will be aggregated in the trend chart.

Event Impact

Moreover, this feature supports analysis of how key events impact active user metrics, including In-App Events, CPPs, Meta Ads, Ranked Keyword Lost Rank, and App Lost Rank.

By selecting any event, an event Gantt chart will be displayed below the user engagement trend chart for the corresponding time range. The date selection for both charts will be linked, allowing you to visually identify which events might have caused changes in active user metrics.

Active User List

The detailed acitve user list supports dimensions such as average daily active users, highest daily active users, median daily active users, and user stickiness over the selected time period.

Additionally, the details list supports sentiment analysis of user review and an AI-powered reivew summary feature that intelligently consolidates the core opinions users have about your app.
